Hey folks, long time. (This is a duplicate of a blog post that I just made over on Hunter Black.)
So...a lot has happened. Some of it you knew was coming, a lot of it...you would have had no idea. First, the obvious.
Will and his wife have had a baby! We announced it well in advance and, at least at first, the baby was why we had to take a break. Babies are a big change and Will and Kim had to figure out how to manage their new schedule. They are definitely starting to settle into being parents, but they also haven't lost that slightly shocked look that new parents always seem to have. Honestly, I don't think the surprise is the baby--I've only met him a couple of times, but he seems pretty chill to me. I think that...I think that they didn't know they could be this tired and still function. But they're clearly adjusting, because were able to start this up again. (I'd share a picture but...I haven't asked Will's permission and it's kinda late. I'm posting this because it struck me to do so--I don't want to call him now. He'll post a pic if he wants to.)
Well, while all of this was going on, a crazy opportunity was thrown my way. Some buddies of mine got a really cool writing gig, and when someone else was needed to add to the mix, they threw my name out there (presumably along with a few others, but I'm the one who lucked out). It turns out that Marvel has entered into a deal to do books with Wiley, the publishers of the For Dummies line...and I was hired to write Fantastic Four For Dummies. Don't believe me?
I just turned in the manuscript. I have some rounds of edits to go through, but the book is basically done. It comes out this summer, but you can pre-order it on Amazon and Barnes & Noble RIGHT NOW. It'll be here just in time to catch you guys up before the movie comes out! (If you must know, I still think that Pedro Pascal should have been Doctor Strange and that Benedict Cumberbatch should be Reed Richards...but other than that, that trailer was 🔥🔥🔥.
There's more news...BIGGER news. (Well, maybe not bigger than a damn baby...but still, it's big.) Honestly, right now, it's too big to share. But it's cool and it's good for us. Now, it's the kind of thing that could suck all of the air out the room, creatively speaking. Before that fully engages, Will and I want to get back on the horse with Hunter Black. So...we're on the way back, baby. Will's been back at the drawing board for a couple of weeks now. I still had a healthy backlog of script pages for him to do...but that won't last forever. So I'm going to start tackling the scripts starting in the next day or two. Hunter Black'll be one of three big projects on my desk in addition to my day job (GROAN) and I want to make sure I'm devoting enough time to everything. So better to get the habit back now, before the deluge hits.
